Deindividuation occurs when people in groups lose their sense of individual identity and become more likely to engage in impulsive or antisocial behaviour.
For example, individuals in large crowds or online forums may act in ways they wouldn’t if they were alone. Anonymity, group size, and arousal all contribute to the phenomenon. This effect helps explain mob behaviour, riots, or cyberbullying.
