Ingroup bias is the tendency to favour one’s own group (the “ingroup”) over outsiders (the “outgroup”). This can manifest as a preference, trust, or favourable judgment toward those we identify with.
For example, supporting your own school, company, or country more strongly—even when outsiders are equally deserving. Ingroup bias can foster solidarity, but it can also fuel prejudice and discrimination.
